New Bike Lanes Created In Southampton Village
"New bike lanes give our residents more safe and fun transportation choices."

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Bicyclists will soon have additional options in Southampton Village.
An initiative kicked off by Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren in 2021 has led to the addition of bike lanes on several streets; the goal is to promote safe bicycle travel and give residents additional transportation options, Warren said.
During public workshops and listening sessions, residents expressed a need for improved bicycle connectivity throughout the village center.

Striping of the new bike lanes is set to begin next week and marking has already started, village nofficials said.
The areas planned for new bike lanes include Hampton Road, Nugent Street, Windmill Lane, Coopers Farm Road, and Vahradian Way. Additionally, new bike racks are planned for the West Main Street parking lot. The new bike lanes also feature a new brick path connecting Vahradian Way to Coopers Farm Road so that riders and pedestrians can have easy and safe access to the library.

"New bike lanes give our residents more safe and fun transportation choices," Warren said. "By focusing on the village center, we hope to connect the different areas of our downtown and make Southampton even more accessible. Most importantly, these improvements will expand safety for cyclists as they travel our roads in their own designated lanes."
Southampton Village Planning Commissioner Mike Lieberman added: "Bike lanes are an exciting update to the village downtown. Micro-mobility trends and bike lanes are growing in popularity, so we are thrilled to work with the mayor to get this done."
