New Roof Installed At Habitat For Humanity Home In Riverside
"For the past 15 years, my family and I have been renters and the places we have lived never truly felt like home."

RIVERSIDE, NY — A house in Riverside is one step closer to being a forever home for a family of four desperate for a place to call their own.
On Tuesday, Habitat for Humanity of Long Island Partnered with King Quality for a roof installation at the house, located on Vail Avenue in Riverside.
King Quality, a Bohemia-based roofing, siding and window contractor, agreed to donate all the materials needed to complete the seven-part roofing system for the home, as well as all labor needed for the installation. The company also partnered with roofing manufacturer GAF, who will be supplying shingles for the roof, Habitat for Humanity said.

The house is the future home of Christina, Erick, Julianna and Victoria, a family currently living in an apartment that is inadequate for the needs of four people, Habitat for Humanity said.
“For the past 15 years, my family and I have been renters and the places we have lived never truly felt like home,” said Christina, who for more than 14 years has worked as a social service examiner. “There are no words to describe the amount of peace I see in our future because of this opportunity. The fact that I get to help others in the process makes this blessing even more exciting. I look forward to learning new ways to give back to my community and meeting new people along the way.”
Christina and other adult members of the family will fulfill 300 hours of “sweat equity,” helping to build their home and houses for others in the program. In addition, they will go through financial preparation classes and volunteer for community service. The homeowner will sign a 30-year mortgage with two percent interest, with Habitat for Humanity of Long Island holding a second mortgage.
