New York City Children Arrive to Spend Summer on East End

The children will be staying with local host families for the week.

Several children from New York City arrived on Thursday to spend a week with host families on the East End as part of the The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program.

This year, a total of 11 children came to stay in Mattituck and Southampton.

The program gives city children the opportunity to enjoy a week in the summer with a volunteer host family in suburban, rural and small town communities.

“I’m excited to go swimming and to watch the stars at night.” ten-year-old Tyrone said. “I can’t see them at night in the city!”
