Mary McAvey, a former Southampton resident, passed away on March 2, 2015 in Ocala, FL. She was 89.

McAvey was born on March 6, 1925 in Southampton

She was a waitress at Shippys Pumpernickels East Restaurant in Southampton.

She moved to Ocala in 1980. She attended Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

McAvey was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and saw everything as a blank canvas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James J. McAvey and two sons, Johnny Topping and Michael Topping.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria L. (Bud) Spaulding, Ocala, FL, and Carol Topping, Southampton, her three grandchildren, James Kyle Topping, Southampton, Michael James (Samantha) Topping, Lawton, OK, Jennifer (Carlos) Leenen, Kissimmee, FL, five great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Toby.

She will be buried along side her late husband in Florida National Cemetery.

Arrangements will be made by Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society.
