Pedestrian Dies After Riverside Hit-And-Run: Police

Officials are still searching for the driver who fled the scene after hitting and killing a man Thursday, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A pedestrian died after being struck in a Riverside hit-and-run Thursday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, at 5:28 p.m., 911 calls came in about a man struck by a driver on Flanders Road near Old Quogue Road; the driver fled the scene, police said.

Southampton Town Police patrol units responded and rendered aid to David Humberto-Amaya, 33, who is homeless, until the Flanders-Northampton Ambulance Corps responded. Suffolk County Aviation transported Humberto-Amaya, 33, to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

His family was notified of his death, police said.
