Pierson High School Teacher Named 2015 Heart Saver of the Year
The award was accepted at a ceremony in New York City on June 4.

Pierson High School teacher Sue Denis was recently named 2015 Heart Saver of the Year by the American Heart Association.
Denis traveled to New York City with five of her students to accept her award on June 4.
The award recognizes select volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help save lives from cardiac arrest or by helping to strengthen the chain of survival.

Denis received the award after creating a CPR training course at the high school.
Since the program was created 21 years ago, Denis has certified more than 250 Sag Harbor students as CPR instructors and trained more than 2,500 in American Heart Association CPR.

Over 20 of these students have used the skill to save a life.
“It was a great honor to receive the AHA Heartsaver Award for teaching CPR at Pierson,” Denis said.
