Pierson Senior Takes Sweet Second Place in Cake Decorating Event
The SkillsUSA New York State competition was held in Syracuse this spring.

SAG HARBOR, NY - Pierson High School senior Ciara Weatherell took a sweet second-place win in a cake decorating event at the SkillsUSA New York State Competition, held in Syracuse this spring.
Weatherell’s win culminated her years as a culinary arts student at the Academy of Applied Technology at Eastern Suffolk BOCES and her work in the restaurant industry, a release from the school district said.
Weatherell has been employed by several establishments during her studies, including Cormaria and Provisions in Sag Harbor and as a pastry chef for a private catering company.

She's also well-known as a baker extraordinaire in the community, taking orders for private events and selling her baked goods to raise money for non-profit organizations, including the East End Lyme Disease Awareness Foundation.
Weatherell will be attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park in the fall to study food and nutrition.
