Police: Southampton Woman Struck by Object While on a Boat
The woman sustained severe face injuries and trauma to her mouth while aboard a boat in Little Peconic Bay.

Southampton Town Police, Southampton Town Bay Constables and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance responded to Southampton Town Dock at Towd Point Road in North Sea in order to assist a person who sustained injuries while aboard a boat in Little Peconic Bay in the Town of Southampton on Sunday at about 7 p.m., according to police.
The arriving officers found a 69-year-old Southampton female who sustained severe face injuries and trauma to her mouth after the boat she had been a passenger in struck an object in the bay.
Investigations revealed the 2003 34-foot Baha was being operated by a 45-year-old Sag Harbor man. The vessel struck a pound net while making way from east to west in the Little Peconic Bay immediately west of Jessup’s Neck. The female appeared to have been struck by a line attached to the pound net, according to police.

The operator of the vessel contacted authorities and met police and ambulance personal at the dock on Towd Point Road.
