Maria Moore Wins Southampton Supervisor's Race: BOE

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Maria Moore has won the race for Southampton Town supervisor.

According to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, as of 12:34 p.m, with no districts left to report, Maria Moore, a Democrat, was ahead with 8,128 votes, or 56.88 percent, compared to the 6,160, or 43.11 percent, garnered by Republican and incumbent Councilwoman Cynthia McNamara.

Added Southampton Town Democratic Committee Chair Gordon Herr: "Whether you voted for Maria Moore or not, she is ready to get to work for the benefit of all the residents of the Town of Southampton and work collaboratively with everyone."

In the race for Southampton Town board, Democrats Bill Pell and Michael Iasilli took the lead with 7,941 votes, or 29.19 percent, and 6,843 votes, or 25.15 percent, respectively. Republican Richard Martel received 6,624 votes, or 24.35 percent, and GOP candidate William Parash, 5,795 votes, or 21.30 percent.

Gary Weber, a Republican, won the race for town justice with 7,468 votes, or 53.51 percent, compared to Democrat John Ortiz, who received 6,486 votes, or 46.48 percent.

Theresa Kiernan, a Republican, retained her longtime post as Southampton tax receiver, garnering 7,895. votes, or 56.21 percent; Democrat David Glazer received 6,150 votes, or 43.78 percent.

Winners of five open Southampton trustee seats were Republican Scott Horowitz, with 7,162 votes, or 10.85 percent; Republican Ed Warner, Jr. with 7,052 votes, or 10.69 percent; Democrat Matthew Parsons, with 6,924 votes, or 10.49 percent; Republican Chip Maran, with 6,806 votes, or 10.32 percent; and Democrat Joseph McLoughlin, with 6,617 votes, or 10.03 percent.
