Residents Vote Down Proposed Tuckahoe-Southampton School District Merger
Southampton district residents vote against the merger.
The Tuckahoe-Southampton school district merger advisory referendum failed at the polls on Tuesday.
Residents in the Tuckahoe Common School District voted handily in favor of merging the two districts by a margin of 533-25. But Southampton School District residents voted down the measure by a margin of 1,066-972 in that district, according to results on the Tuckahoe Common School District website.
If residents in both districts had approved the measure, it would have headed for a final public vote in January.
