Sag Harbor Only School District In State To Win $18.8K Grant
The district has exciting plans for the grant funding!

SAG HARBOR, NY — Sag Harbor students will soon see educational horizons expand.
Sag Harbor’s Pierson Middle/ High School will soon be home to a Toshiba Computer Numerical Control machine, thanks to an $18,860 grant awarded to the Sag Harbor School District, officials said.
The district received the “Collaboration and Design in a Modern World” grant after technology teacher Edward Moloney submitted an application for it in early October, the district said.

“The machine and its related design software will significantly expand opportunities for our students in Sag Harbor,” said Moloney. “It can pretty much fabricate anything; its applications are endless.”
Sag Harbor, which is the only school district in New York State to receive the grant, plans to use the CNC machine for a variety of student projects and learning opportunities.

The CNC machine is able cut out furniture and other designs, created by students in computer-aided design software, out of wood, plastic and aluminum, district officials said.
