Sag Harbor Resident Asks Feds to Investigate Noyac Golf Course

Notes Chemical Dangers

Bill Kirrane, of Wildwood Road in Sag Harbor, today asked the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington to investigate the damage being done by the Noyac Golf Club. The club has built a garbage dump behind Kirrane's house on Wildwood Road where chemicals are stored and dumped.

Kirrane charged that local government officials are afraid to upset the wealthy and politically connected members of club. He noted that the fee for membership in the club is $250,000. "I have more confidence in Washington than I have in Southampton Town" noted Kirrane.

"The members of the golf course are what Tom Wolfe would call the 'Masters of the Universe', stated Kirrane. "Most of them live in Manhattan and don't give a hoot about the local environment"

The battle between the Kirrane Family and the golf course has been going on for several years. Attached is a photo of Bill and his sister Maureen Kirrane Devlin demonstrating on Noyac Road last summer. Kirrane noted that the demonstrations will continue this year.
