Sag Harbor Resident Shatters Record at 20th Annual Ellen's Run 5K Race

The event took place last Sunday in Southampton.

Hundreds of people turned out for the 20th Annual Ellen’s Run 5K Race which took place in Southampton last Sunday.

Sag Harbor resident, Nick Lemon, 23, came in first place at 15:54, breaking the old record of 16:48 set by New York City resident Robert Beit in 2013.

Molly Bennett, 22, of East Quogue came in first place for the women at 19:24.

Luis Ramirez, 25, of Southampton came in second place for the men and Dylan Fine, 18, of New York City came in third place for the men.

Hanna Jerome, 19, of Englewood, NJ, came in second place for the women and Barbara Gubbins, 55, of Southampton came in third place for the women.

Julie Ratner presented the awards to the winners.

Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst and Bob Chaloner, President of Southampton Hospital, were among the guests to attend the event.

The annual 5k (3.1 mile) race was a fundraiser for the Ellen Hermanson Foundation.

The race was held on the East End, where breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates are among the highest in the state.
