SAG HARBOR, NY — A Pierson High School senior has made the Sag Harbor School District proud. Hope Brindle was named a commended student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. The honor was the result of her score on the PSAT qualifying exam.
Hope is among approximately 34,000 commended students nationwide recognized for their exceptional academic promise. To earn the title, she placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT, district officials said.
Among her many accomplishments, Hope is currently the acting president of Pierson High School’s GSA, a member of the Women’s Issues Club, Mathletes and the National Honor Society. She is also an actress and will soon appear in a lead role in her school’s fall production of “You Can’t Take It With You.” She intends to study creative writing, politics and international relations in college.
