School News - Week of March 24-28

This Friday, March 21st, student council is sponsoring a “Movie Afternoon” at 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. featuring the movie, “Free Bird.”  Also, on Friday, March 21st, 7th graders are having a Pizza Fundraiser at the Deli Counter.  Order a pizza between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and $5.00 from every pizza ordered will be donated back to the 7th grade!  Seventh grader, Connor Rozzi and eighth grader, Madison Platt will be recognized for their Patriot’s Pen Essay awards on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Southampton Town Hall.  Connor was awarded First Place in Suffolk County and the District (Suffolk, Nassau, Queens & Brooklyn Counties) and Madison Platt was awarded Third Place in Suffolk County and Fourth Place in the District.  Congratulations Connor Rozzi & Madison Platt on a job well done!  Mahalo Kamehameha School second graders! Tuckahoe’s second grade students were very excited to finally see and speak with their Hawaiian pen pals this month after some snow day rescheduling. Each student introduced him or herself and told a little about their favorite activities. Tuckahoe students also told their friends in Maui what it is like to have a snow day. Tuckahoe second graders learned that schools in Maui don’t have snow days, but their friends do have to stay home when there is a Tsunami warning! Wow! Students will continue to write to their Hawaiian pen pals in Ms. Dodici and Mrs. Miller’s classrooms and have asked Ms. Verdeschi to arrange to take them for a second virtual visit through Skype in the Library Media Center later this school year.  Attention Tuckahoe families!  Friday, March 28th, is Tuckahoe Pizza Night at Melrose East Pizzeria!  Dine-in or take-out between 5:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28th and mention “Tuckahoe School” and Melrose will donate 20% of their profit to the Tuckahoe Sixth Grade Class trip to Washington DC when they are in 8th grade!  We thank you for your support!  Melrose East Pizzeria, 801 County Road 39, Southampton, NY (next door to Goldberg’s Bagels), phone #(631) 283-6770.
