Screening of Naledi: A Baby Elephant's Tale
Join us Sunday, August 14 at 5:00PM at the Southampton Arts Center as we celebrate National Elephant Day with a screening of Naledi.

The Southampton Arts Center joins forces with the Wildlife Conservation Society on World Elephant Day with the screening of Naledi: A Baby Elephant’s Tale, the incredible, true-life story of a baby elephant born into a rescue camp in the wilderness of Botswana. When she’s suddenly orphaned at one month of age, it’s up to the men who look after her herd to save her life.
Set in epic landscapes across the continent, the film is filled with both inspiring and harrowing stories. We stay close to Naledi’s unforgettable caretakers as they come to her rescue: delighting in her antics when she’s well, working frantically to keep her alive when she’s on the brink. We witness firsthand the challenges that elephants face today as our team struggles against the impossible: from poisoned arrows flying from the hands of poachers to the unrelenting wave of human development that’s crashing across the land.
This one elephant’s story is both intimate and epic, and brings humans and elephants together in a way unlike any film before it has ever done. It’s a journey of tragedy and triumph that inspires laughter and tears, and which reveals the remarkable inner life of an animal as complex as any human, and as iconic as Africa itself.
