Skateboarder Dies After Being Struck On LI: Police

SAG HARBOR, NY — A skateboarder died after being struck by a vehicle in Sag Harbor Friday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, at 5:55 p.m., Stephen Breitenbach, 77, was driving a 2018 Land Rover west on Middle Lane Highway near Fourteen Hills Court when he collided with the skateboarder, 55, who was in the roadway.

The skateboarder, of Geneva, Florida was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital by

Southampton Volunteer Ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. His name is
being withheld pending the notification of his family, authorities added.

Southampton Town detectives responded to the scene of the fatal crash to investigate; criminality is not suspected, police said.

The Land Rover was impounded for a safety check.
