LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island could be set for another round of snow this weekend, forecasters said.

According to James Connolly, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton, as of Tuesday, there was no clear answer as to how much snow was expected.

"Right now, snow is likely for Sunday," he said. "We don't know the amount yet and the confidence is low; it's too far out. But the chance for snow is 60 percent on Sunday, and 20 to 50 percent on Saturday night."

"A storm will gather a vast zone of snow and ice over the south-central United States Friday," Accuweather.com said. "During the weekend, around the same time Arctic air moves in," snow could cover Long Island and continue into Monday. The snow could accumulate, causing traffic outlets, with temperatures low enough to keep the snow from melting, Accuweather.com said.
