Southampton Counselor Inducted Into College Hall Of Athletic Honor

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton counselor is set to be inducted into the Gettysburg College Hall of Athletic Honor.

Jessica Zay will be honored on October 14, the Southampton Union Free School District said.

Zay will be lauded for her accomplishments as a lacrosse player at Gettysburg College from 1997 to 2001. During that time, she was a four-year starter, and in her junior year, she was named Second Team All-American and First Team All-Conference, the district said.

As a senior, she became the program’s first Centennial Conference Player of the Year. She finished with a career-high 32 points to go along with 59 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers, district officials added.

She made the All-American squad for the second year in a row and was named ECAC Player of the Year and All-Metro Region First Team, the district said.

She finished her career with 86 points, 175 ground balls, 112 draw controls and 78 caused turnovers in 69 games, officials added.

"The Southampton School District extends its congratulations to Zay on this impressive achievement," the district said.
