Southampton High School Makes List of Top 100 High Schools in State

In a recently released report, Niche.com named Southampton High School as the 65th best public high school in New York.

The website evaluated schools based on key statistics, as well as parent and student reviews. Southampton High received an overall grade of an ”A” from Niche.

According to the report, the school received an “A+” grade for teachers, “A” grades in academics, administration/polices, educational outcome, extracurriculars, and resources/facilities, and ”A-” grades in food, sports/fitness, and student culture/diversity.

The school’s lowest grade – a “B+” rating – came in health/safety.

“I love the sports here, everyone is so involved and has great school spirit,” one Southampton High School senior wrote in an assessment of the school.

The website used a detailed set of methods to rank 14,431 public high schools across the country and collected 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

According to Niche.com, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:

• Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
• District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
• District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
• Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
