Southampton High School Staff and Students Honored During Board of Education Meeting

Southampton High School staff and students were both honored during the Board of Education work session meeting which took place on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the 2014-2015 retirees and tenure candidates were celebrated.

Retiring from the district are: Barbara Bruzdoski, Bus Driver; Marilyn Fertig, Bus Driver; Karen Beres, Southampton Elementary School Teacher Assistant; Mary Jane Greenfield, Southampton Elementary School Teacher; Lynne Montaglione, Southampton Elementary School Teacher; Susan Rumph, Southampton Intermediate School Music Teacher; and Margaret Fowler, Southampton High School Teacher.

Candidates granted tenure that evening included: Sarah Ciccariello, Social Worker; Maria Teresa Ellams, Teacher; John Sapienza, Teacher Assistant; Dr. Michael Grimaldi, Assistant Principal; Kristen Heine-Churchill, Teacher Assistant; Colleen Henke, Teacher; Dr. Kim Rodriguez, Director of Guidance; and Principal Dr. Brian Zahn.

In addition, Southampton students who participated in the 2015 Special Olympics Spring Games South at Southampton High School were recognized by the Board of Education during the meeting.

Each athlete was introduced by their coach and shared their successes with the board and the attendees.

Brian Tenety, Southampton High School Physical Education Teacher, coordinated the second annual community event.

The board thanked him, the athletes, and the faculty, staff, students and community members who worked to create the event.
