Southampton Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Snow Embankment: Police

He was arrested Sunday, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into a snow embankment Sunday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place at about 4:06 p.m. in the vicinity of County Road 39 and Shrubland Road. Patrol units responded and determined that James H. Reynolds, 58, while in an intoxicated condition, struck a snow embankment, causing damage to the vehicle he was operating, police said.

No injuries were reported in the crash, police said. Further investigation revealed that his driver's license was suspended and that he has an active Nassau District Court bench warrant, police said.

Reynolds was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a traffic infraction, police said.

Reynolds was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
