Southampton Police Set To Kick Off 2022 Youth Academy

The program teaches high school students about the training police officers undergo, authorities say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The Southampton Police Department announced recently that it's set to kick off its 2022 Spring Youth Academy.

The youth academy, a week-long program that introduces kids from the community to the training that police officers go through, focuses on laws that govern police, investigations, physical training, defensive tactics, and more. Youth will experience specialized units within the department, the STPD said.

The academy is open to students in 9th, 10th, or 11th grades.

The program is being held at Bridgehampton School, located 2685 Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, on April 18 through April 22. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday, April 22, class will be held from 9 a.m. and graduation will be held at 5 p.m.
