Southampton Police Take Part In 'National Drug Take Back Day'

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Have unused prescription drugs you want to discard of safely? The Southampton Town Police Department and the Southampton Town Police Explorers will be participating in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Police will be collecting expired and unused medication for safe disposal.

Collections sites will be established at the following locations: The Hampton Bays Community

Center, 25 Ponquogue Ave.; the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Road, and the
Southampton Town Police substation at Bridgehampton Commons, 2044 Montauk Hwy.

"Unused medications that are not disposed of properly can wind up in the hands of our most vulnerable populations, and flushing medication will ultimately wind up in our aquifer and pollute our drinking water. Help keep our community safe and clean by turning in your unused medication." police said.

The service is free and confidential. Liquid medications, syringes, sharps, and thermometers cannot be accepted.
