Southampton Publick House Brew Wins Prestigious Award
Saison Faucille receives medal at Canadian beer festival.
, Long Island’s oldest brewery, took home a platinum medal from the 18th annual “Mondial de la Biere” brewers competition in Montreal earlier this month.
The Publick House was awarded for its Southampton Saison Faucille, a "farmhouse-style" ale made with a variety of grains, notably rye, oats, wheat and malted barley. They call it, “our interpretation of a typical harvest brew of yore.”
Saison Faucille won the "Le Petit Octoberfest" division, which included all U.S. beers at the festival, some Canadian and some international entrants, according to the Publick House. Only three platinum medals were given out.

Nearly 96,000 visitors came to taste some of the 609 beers available at the 5-day festival at Place Bonaventure. Five criteria were considered: the beer’s quality, aroma, taste, mouthfeel and overall drinking pleasure.
