Southampton Supervisor Releases Christmas Song, Shares Holiday Spirit

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Music has always been deeply rooted in Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman's soul. Not only does he delight audiences at his drum circle and perform with local bands, but now, he's released his first Christmas song.

The song, "It's Christmas Time," is an original composition. He released the song under the name Jali Music because of Jay and Ali — he and Alessandro (Ali) Giangola worked tirelessly to make the song happen.

Schneiderman wrote the lyrics and the pair collaborated on the music.

The video was originally shot two nights before Christmas in Schneiderman's garage, with Giangola singing and playing guitar, Willy Fuentes is on bass, and Schneiderman on drums.

Back in 2020, he shared the tune on YouTube "to brighten spirits during the pandemic," but now the song has been officially released.

"It was a collaborative effort. I wrote the lyrics and had a pretty good sense of the melody. Ali took the ball and ran with it," Schneiderman told Patch. "He created the beautiful arrangement. I then worked with Bang World Audio in New York to put the finishing touches on it, including the vocal track, which features Kyle Gordon."

When the song was first shared in 2020 around Christmas, "everyone loved it," Schneiderman said. "I'm getting great responses to this one, as well."

Schneiderman, who has written many songs – he also wrote a children's book some years ago — said this is the first song that he's published.

"I sometimes write the music, but always write the lyrics," Scheiderman said.

Recently, Schneiderman had one of his songs, "Lift Me Up," play on "The Bachelorette," he said. "I wrote the lyrics and Matt White wrote the music and sang the song."

Music has always touched his heart, Schneiderman said. " I started writing songs when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to sharing more of these creations in the future. 'It's Christmas Time' was written to sound like those classic Christmas songs we grew up with, the ones that put us in the holiday spirit."

"It's Christmas Time" was just released this week, but Schneiderman hopes by next Christmas it is able to reach a larger audience.

As for Jali Music, Schneiderman added that the name, "reminded me of 'jolly,' as in, 'Have a jolly Christmas."
