The Southampton Town Bay Constables recently worked with the Southampton Town Trustees and the Trustee Marine Maintenance Division to distribute 3,000 pounds of feed corn to local residents in an effort to support the starving waterfowl within Southampton Town.

The severe winter and heavy ice conditions have put a severe strain on both Black Ducks and Broadbill Ducks whose numbers are already at an all time low in the North Atlantic Flyway.

The Town Trustees purchased the corn after it was brought to their attention that several waterfowl had been reported to have died.

Anyone wishing to participate in the program, which is open to all residents, can call the Bay Constable office at 631-702-2268 to arrange to pick up some feed.
