213 Southampton Customers Without Power During Storm: Officials
Supervisor Maria Moore declared the state of emergency Tuesday; all town facilities are closed.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Update: 12 p.m.: There were 213 customers without power across Southampton Town Tuesday, officials reported.
"Much of this is related to branches taking down wires due to snow on the branches," said Ryan Murphy, Southampton Town town code compliance and emergency management administrator."Thankfully, many people seem to have listened to the warnings and the number of vehicles on roadways appears to be fairly low."
He added: "We are continuing to see some accidents here and there due to slippery conditions, though, and we urge people to avoid travel if at all possible."

"The storm is expected to bring snowfall in excess of five inches, which is also predicted to be accompanied by gusty winds," said Ryan Murphy, Southampton Town town code compliance and emergency management administrator. "There is an expectation that this event will lead to hazardous roadway conditions due to the possibility of slippery surfaces and reduced visibility. "
He added: "Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads to allow our dedicated crews from the highway department, parks department and municipal works to effectively perform snow removal activities. In an effort to further encourage this, all town facilities, including transfer stations, will be closed on February 13. Please exercise caution during the storm and stay safe."
