Speeding Teen Slams Into Tree, Tries To Flee: Police

He sped out of the McDonald's parking lot, causing drivers to slam on their brakes to avoid a crash, then hit a telephone pole, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southold teen was arrested in Southampton after he was caught speeding, hit a tree, and tried to flee, police said.

According to Southampton Village Police, on Friday, Jan. 25. at 5:31 p.m., Nicolas Kazanok Andreadis, 18, of was arrested on Hampton Street and charged with second degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, third degree unlawful fleeing, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Andreadis was observed driving a 2016 Kia Forte and leaving the McDonald's parking lot at a high rate of speed through the entrance, causing multiple drivers to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision, police said.

He then drove onto County Road 39, heading east "before abruptly making an aggressive move across oncoming traffic on to Hampton Street, where he came into contact with a telephone pole," police said.

Andreadis then exited the vehicle and ran a short distance before he was apprehended by police; he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
