SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A beloved tradition was back this month as, after a pandemic pause, students in the Southampton Intermediate School summoned up their best skills and participated in a spelling bee.Students in grades 5 to 8 competed individually in their classrooms, with the top-scoring students moving into a second, schoolwide competition. Taking first place was fifth grader Brooklyn DeVito, who will now move on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. &nbsp;Come witness what a wedding in Cutchogue could have looked like on the eve of the American Revolution. We are celebrating the union of Gershom Terry, a local Revolutionary War veteran, and Elizabeth (Case) Terry, who were originally married before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Experience the historical customs, music, fashion, and food of a colonial-era wedding while learning what life was like on the North Fork during the Revolutionary War. This event is a collaboration between the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church and the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and Museums. The wedding will be held at the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church, 27245 Main Rd, Cutchogue, June 20, 2026, 2:00pm- Get your Suffolk County 250th passbook stamped by The Cutchogue New Suffolk Historical Society &amp; Museums on site. Partially funded by a grant from the Robert D.L. Gardiner Foundation.

Set amid the breathtaking gardens and sculpture-filled grounds of The Leiber Collection in Springs, East Hampton, Viva Verdi promises an intimate and extraordinary musical experience unlike any other in the Hamptons season.
Featuring internationally acclaimed artists, the concert celebrates the beauty, passion, and emotional power of opera through beloved music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Antonín Dvořák, and more.
At the heart of the evening are Verdi’s legendary father-daughter duets, among the most moving music ever written for the stage, drawn from masterpieces including Rigoletto, La Traviata, and Il Trovatore.
The performance features renowned Metropolitan Opera baritone Daniel Sutin and soprano Ashley Galvani Bell, whose credits include Carnegie Hall, Bilbao Opera, Seville's Teatro de la Maestranza, and opera houses throughout Europe and the United States. Pianist and conductor Michael Fennelly, himself a Carnegie Hall and Komische Oper alumnus, completes this exceptional trio.
Guests will enjoy a rare opportunity to hear these celebrated artists up close in one of the East End’s most magical cultural settings.

Metropolitan Opera baritone Daniel Sutin has performed leading roles throughout the United States and Europe, including appearances with the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Polish National Opera, Opera North, and major festivals such as Lincoln Center and Spoleto. Celebrated for his commanding dramatic presence and powerful voice, his repertoire includes Rigoletto, Tosca, Otello, Falstaff, and many more.
ASHLEY GALVANI BELL, Soprano
Internationally acclaimed soprano Ashley Galvani Bell has appeared in opera houses and concert halls across the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro Pérez Galdós, and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. A Yale University graduate and award-winning performer, she is especially celebrated for her portrayals of Violetta in La Traviata and Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly.
MICHAEL FENNELLY, Piano
Esteemed pianist and conductor Michael Fennelly has appeared internationally at Carnegie Hall and major opera houses, including Berlin’s Komische Oper. Known for his exceptional artistry and collaborative brilliance, he brings both elegance and dramatic vitality to the evening’s performance.

Set on the beautiful grounds of Stony Hill Stables in Amagansett, this free community event offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore one of the East End’s premier equestrian facilities, meet trainers and riders, learn about the Stony Hill Foundation’s mission, and enjoy a variety of activities for all ages.

The Open House is designed to celebrate Stony Hill’s rich history while introducing visitors to the programs and opportunities available through both the stables and the Foundation.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend Father’s Day together, experience the joy of horses, and connect with the Stony Hill community,” said organizers. “Whether you are a longtime rider, a former student, or simply curious about the equestrian world, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
Founded as a center for excellence in horsemanship and rider education, Stony Hill Stables has been a cherished part of the East End community for generations. The Stony Hill Foundation works to expand access to equestrian experiences through educational programs, scholarships, and community outreach initiatives.

The 5th Annual Springs Garden Party returns on Saturday, July 11, for an elegant summer evening benefiting the Springs Food Pantry. Held in the beautiful gardens of hosts Greg McCarthy and Peter Bickford, guests will enjoy cocktails, seasonal hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a lively auction and raffle—all in support of nearly 400 local families served each week by the Pantry.
