Stop and Shop to Acquire Two Hamptons Waldbaum's

The supermarket company recently entered an agreement to acquire a total of 25 New York stores.

Stop and Shop announced on Monday that they will be acquiring two Waldbaum’s stores in the Hamptons.

The supermarket company entered into an agreement with The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company to acquire a total of 25 A&P stores in New York.

Among the stores in the agreement include: the Waldbaum’s stores at 167 Jagger Lane in Southampton and on 67 Newtown Lane in East Hampton.

The acquisition will cost a total of $146 million.

“Stop & Shop is always looking for convenient locations to better serve our customers,” Don Sussman, Stop and Shop’s New York Metro Division President said. “We are very happy to have the opportunity to expand our presence in greater New York and serve new customers.”

The agreement is subject to further terms and conditions following court approval in A&P’s bankruptcy case filed on July 19.

After the transaction is completed, Stop and Shop plans to convert these Waldbaum’s, Pathmark and A&P stores into Stop and Shop stores.

The sale is currently expected to close within the second half of 2015.
