How many marathons? 3: New York City (2011) and Marine Corps Marathon (2013, 2014) Countless half marathons and 5 and 10ks (I started running in 2009).

Why are you running in the Suffolk County Marathon? I am running in the inaugural Suffolk County Marathon because it is right in our backyard going through some beautiful areas of Suffolk County. I am also running this marathon to support the race’s efforts to support our veterans and to honor Jordan Haerter.

Who inspired you to run in the marathon? Jordan Haerter from Sag Harbor, inspired me to run in this first edition of the Suffolk County Marathon. Jordan, along with Jonathan Yale were killed in action in Ramadi, Iraq on April 22, 2008. I hope to honor their memory by running in this race (as well as the Marine Corps and New York marathons) and to highlight our efforts to see them awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions.

How are you preparing for the marathon? I am preparing for the marathon by, what else, running! I’m increasing my mileage weekly and am also cross training with activities such as walking, biking, and yoga along with weight training.

How long have you been preparing for the marathon? I started training as soon as all the snow and ice melted! It’s been a few weeks since I started training in earnest.

What are you most looking forward to at the marathon? I am looking forward to the pomp and circumstance, the sights along the way, the support of my friends and crossing the finish line!
