Thief Thwarted Outside Hamptons Hotel: Police

He was trying to steal a motorcycle when the owner stopped him, police say.

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY —A thief was thwarted outside a Bridgehampton hotel Tuesday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on Tuesday at 2:49 p.m. a call came in about a theft in progress at Topping Rose House. Police responded and determined Francesco Adorno Jr., 35, of Windsor Locks, CT, tried to steal a Yamaha motorcycle, authorities said.

After being confronted by the owner of the motorcycle, Adorno Jr. relinquished the Yamaha and left the scene of the incident with a pool chemical tank that he had "no permission, right or privilege to possess," police said.

Adorno Jr. was located, arrested and charged with third-degree attempted grand larceny, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor, police said.

Adorno, Jr. was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters, then released on an appearance ticket with a future arraignment date, authorities said.
