Tractor Trailer Driver Charged With DWI After 6-Car Crash: PD
The tractor trailer driver rear-ended 2 vehicles, sparking a 6-car, chain reaction crash on County Road 39 in Southampton, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A tractor trailer driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash involving six vehicles in Southampton Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, Wuilmer Barrios, 42, of Flanders, was arrested and charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.
At 4:55 p.m., Southampton Town Police received a call about the multiple-vehicle crash involving six vehicles in the westbound lane of County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road, authorities said.

Barrios, who was driving the tractor trailer, rear-ended two vehicles, which caused a chain reaction, police said. Barrios left the scene and was followed by one of the involved drivers, who provided updates regarding the location of the tractor trailer to patrol units, police said.
Additional officers responded to the crash site and cared for the injured until Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance responded to transport the injured to an area hospital, police said.

All injuries were non-life threatening, police said.
The Suffolk County motor carrier unit responded for a safety check of the tractor trailer, police said.
Barrios was held for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
