Traffic Easement Pilot Program Kicks Off In Southampton This Week
The program, aimed to ease traffic woes, runs though Friday.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — With an eye toward easing traffic woes, a new pilot program kicked off Monday morning and will run through Friday in both Southampton Town and Village.
Southampton Town Police and Southampton Village Police will be participating in a traffic easement program that will incorporate various changes in traffic patterns and traffic light patterns, officials said.
The following changes will take effect every day this week, from 5 a.m. though 9:30 a.m.:

No left turns at the following roadways:
- Montauk Highway and Canoe Place Road
- Montauk Highway and Saint Andrew’s Road (Southampton Village Police jurisdiction)
- County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road
- County Road 39 and Magee Street (School buses will be permitted to turn with police
assistance)

Left turns will be permitted with police assistance at the following roadways:
-Tuckahoe Road and Montauk Highway
-Station Road and Montauk Highway
Lights will be set on steady blink from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the following roadways:
-Montauk Highway and Canoe Place Road
