Try a Village Cheese Panini with Prosciutto

Milano Grilled Panini offered in $10 lunch deal.

The , formerly known as just Village Cheese Shop under the previous owner, has much more to offer than the name implies. It has all the sandwiches you'd expect to find at a deli, plus grilled paninis on fresh bread.

The Dish: Milano Grilled Panini ($10 with soup for lunch special, Monday through Friday; $8.95 alone.)

What's Inside: Fresh mozzarella, thin sliced prosciutto, baby spinach and tomato on your choice of bread. Village Cheese has a variety of baked fresh bread, but perhaps the best choice for this particular panini is the ciabatta bread.

How's It Taste?: The mozzarella and prosciutto (dry-cured ham) complement each other exceptionally well on this panini, making it just the right combination of salty and sweet.

Sides: The lunch combo comes with a choice of "Hale and Hearty" soup, and the Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe has about four daily soups. Count yourself lucky if you come in on a day when the broccoli, cheddar potato soup is being served. This soup is thick, creamy and cheesy. It's somewhere between cream of broccoli soup and mashed potatoes. The moderately spicy turkey chili, with red kidney beans, green peppers and more, is another great choice. You can also pour yourself a cup of hot or iced coffee at the shop's self-service station. There's regular, decaf and specialty coffee that changes daily (try the Irish cream), as well as a variety of tea.
