'Welcome To Flanders' Sign, With Big Duck Image, Swiped: Police

The sign is believed to have been stolen Thursday night, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A familiar sign welcoming people to Flanders — and adorned with the famed Big Duck — has been swiped, police said.

Southampton Town police were notified Friday at about 4:15 p.m. that the "Welcome to Flanders: Home of the Big Duck" sign had been stolen, they said. The sign, located on the corner of Pleasure Drive and County Route 104 in Flanders, is believed to have been stolen Thursday night into Friday, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident, or the possible whereabouts of the sign, to call Southampton police at 631-728-5000, detectives at 631-702-2230, or the crime hot line at 631-728-3454.
