Woman Charged With Driving While Intoxicated With Her 2 Kids On LI: PD

She was involved in a North Haven crash with the children, both under 15, in her vehicle, police say.

NORTH HAVEN, NY — A New York City woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated — and crashing — with her two children, both under the age of 15, in her car in North Haven Wednesday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, at 9:44 p.m., officers responded to the two-car crash at the North Ferry Terminal on Ferry Road. Felipa Aires Mateus Sousa Uva Burke, 46, was determined to have been driving while intoxicated; she was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, Leandra's Law, a felony; DWI, a misdemeanor, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors, police said.

Uva Burke was taken to police headquarters in Hampton Bays where she was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
