Woman, Dog Injured In LI Hit-And-Run On Thanksgiving Eve: PD
The driver of the Mercedes who hit the woman and her dog fled the scene, police say.
NORTH SEA, NY — A woman and her dog were injured when they were hit by a driver who fled the scene in North Sea Wednesday afternoon, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 4:44 p.m. on Big Fresh Pond Road. Officers said a female pedestrian who was walking her dog was struck by an unknown driver who left the scene, police said.
The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for treatment, police said. The dog was also injured during the crash and was transported to a local veterinary hospital for treatment of its injuries, police said.

An investigation revealed that Ann Marie Thomas, 69, of Houston, TX, who was driving a 2019 Mercedes, had been driving, police said.
She was located at a residence nearby, placed under arrest and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, where she was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, a misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of an accident with injury to an animal, a violation, police said.

She was processed and then released on a desk appearance ticket for appearance at a later date in Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
