Woman Hit Adult In Head With Hammer; Child Was Present: Police
The child was shoved during the incident, police say.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A woman was arrested Monday after hitting someone in the head with a hammer while a child was present in Riverside in October, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the initial incident took place on Monday, October 30 at 8 p.m.; Southampton Town police patrol officers responded to a report of an assault with a hammer in the Riverside area, police said.
Police learned that an adult had been struck in the head with a hammer in the presence of a juvenile, who was shoved during the incident; the suspect fled the scene, authorities said.

The adult victim was transported for medical attention; Southampton Town police detectives responded and conducted an investigation, authorities added.
On Monday, December 4, at about 3:00 p.m., Ligia Lopez Menendez, 37, of Flanders, was located by the Southampton Town Police Department's community response unit, police said. She was arrested and charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child; felony aggravated criminal contempt, and second-degree assault, a felony, police said.

She was processed and held overnight for morning arraignment, police said.
