Woman Tries To Steal Optimum Truck — With Worker Still Suspended In Bucket: Cops

You can't make this stuff up.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Ronkonkoma woman was arrested in Southampton after she tried to steal an Optimum service truck — with the worker still elevated in the bucket, police said.

According to Southampton Village Police, Disney Lyn Frego, 20, was arrested last Friday at 1:41 p.m. and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, both misdemeanors, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Police were called to the area of Herrick Road to the complaint of Frego attempting to take the Optimum service truck, police said.

While the Optimum worker was elevated in the bucket of the truck doing repairs, Frego got into the Optimum truck and threatened to take off with the vehicle with the employee elevated in the bucket, police said.

She was processed and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside; $5,000 cash bail was set, police said.

No injuries were reported to the Optimum employee, police said.
