Wrong Way Driver on Drugs Narrowly Misses Car on Sunrise Highway: Police
Troopers were able to stop the vehicle after it narrowly missed striking a vehicle heading eastbound on Sunrise Highway, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY - Tragedy was averted early Thursday when a wrong way driver on Sunrise Highway in Eastport was stopped after he "narrowly missed" striking a car.
According to New York State Police, troopers from the Riverside barracks were patrolling Sunrise Highway westbound east of Exit 62 in the Town of Southampton.
At approximately 1:45 a.m. officers observed a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. Troopers were able to stop the vehicle after it narrowly missed striking a vehicle which was eastbound, officials said.

The driver, John Amorusocusack, of Centereach, was placed under arrest and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
He was transported to the Riverside barracks for processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.
