Zoom Meeting Organized On County Road 39 Pedestrian Safety Projects

The virtual informational sessions will be held on upcoming pedestrian safety improvement projects in Southampton.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A virtual community meeting on upcoming roadwork aimed at pedestrian safety on County Road 39 in Southampton has been scheduled, officials said.

The Zoom meeting is slated to take place on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works, in conjunction Legislator Bridget Fleming's office, will be holding a series of virtual informational sessions on Zoom regarding upcoming projects set to occur on county roads in the district.

Monday's meeting will address the planned installation of sidewalks on County Road 39 from Boathouse Road to Tuckahoe Road. The Suffolk County Department of Public Works is in the final design stage of a project to construct sidewalks on both sides of County Road 39, North Road, from the vicinity of Boathouse Road to the vicinity of Tuckahoe Road in Southampton, officials said.

The project aims to achieve the following goals to improve pedestrian safety within the corridor:

- Construct new sidewalk, including in areas with steep slopes

- Provide continuous pedestrian facilities throughout the corridor

- Upgrade existing pedestrian facilities to become ADA compliant.

- Upgrade traffic signals at Tuckahoe Rd. and install ADA compliant crossings.

- Drainage improvements throughout corridor.

Public comments will be received during the meeting after the presentation.
