11-Year-Old Putnam Boy Killed By Falling Tree
The boy was home with his mother when the tree crashed onto their house.

PUTNAM VALLEY, NY â An 11-year-old Putnam Valley boy was killed Friday when a tree crashed into his home on Dunderberg Road. Around 12:15 p.m., Putnam County Sheriffâs Deputy Charlie Johnson responded to the home for a report of someone trapped under a downed tree.
On arrival, Johnson found that the tree had crashed into the home and trapped the child underneath. The accident happened while the boy was home with his mother.
Johnson tried to rescue the boy but was unable to reach him.

Another sheriffâs deputy and the Putnam Valley Fire Department also arrived at the scene and attempted to rescue the child.
The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:50 p.m. by EMStar medics.

His mother was taken to a nearby hospital, the sheriff's office said..
