Cops: 13-Year-Old Raped After Social Media Meet-Up
The relationship progressed to sexting and then to sex, New York State police allege.

CARMEL, NY — A 21-year-old Dover resident faces rape charges, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old he met over social media. The relationship included a break-in and forcible rape, police allege.
On Monday, New York State police from the Brewster barracks received allegations of sexual assault.
On Tuesday, they arrested Anthony E. Barrera Ramirez and charged him with Rape in the 1st degree, a class B felony; Rape in the 2nd degree and Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, both class D felonies; plus Forcible Touching and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors.

Investigators said they learned that Barrera Ramirez had begun having conversations with the 13-year-old on a social media application. The conversations became sexual in nature, and Barrera Ramirez enticed the victim to send inappropriate photographs, police allege.
He then had sexual contact with the 13-year-old victim over a period of several months — including an incident in which he broke into the victim’s home, and committed forcible rape, police said.

Barrera Ramirez was arraigned before the town of Carmel Court, and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond. His next scheduled appearance before the Court is on July 10.
