2023 School Voters Guide: Brewster
Voters in the Brewster school district will be going to the polls Tuesday. Here's what you need to know.
BREWSTER, NY — Voters around Putnam County will be going to the polls Tuesday to approve their school district's budget, including the Brewster district.
Also on the ballot are elections to fill two seats on the Board of Education. The candidates are
- Kristin Cacal
- Kerry Cunningham (incumbent)
- Melissa Stasi Finateri
- Carrie Hernandez
Voters in the district are being asked to approve an $115,708,974 spending plan for the 2023-24 fiscal year. There would be no increase in the property tax levy.

The budget increases staffing K-12 to lower class sizes and address mandates; adds more business-focused classes in grades 6-12 for skills such as financial literacy; adds a Director of Professional Learning and Literacy position; incorporates the transportation fleet replacement plan into the operating budget; and pays off outstanding debt from all prior years' bus purchases.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Brewster High School.
