3 Fishermen Rescued After Boat Capsizes In Croton Falls Reservoir

The dramatic rescue after a small boat overturned this afternoon had a happy ending thanks to first responders from several jurisdictions.

CARMEL, NY — Three fishermen were rescued from the waters of the Croton Falls Reservoir after their fishing boat capsized on Wednesday.

The Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, the Croton Falls Fire Department, the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department, the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services, Ambulnz-Putnam County EMS, the Carmel Police Department, North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the New York State Police, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department and the NYC DEP Police all responded to the rescue.

The boat flipped over shortly after noon, according to fire officials. All three fishermen had to be pulled from the water. According to initial reports, the three stranded boaters were clinging to their overturned boat while the first crews to arrive commandeered a civilian row boat to reach the trio.

Once on dry land, the three fishermen were taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation.
