Accused of Driving with a Suspended License in Southeast

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Danbury man on an alleged charge of driving with a suspended license in Southeast.

At 9:49 a.m. Feb. 4, Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo was in his cruiser on patrol along Milltown Road when he observed a motorist drive a car across a double-yellow line in an unsafe manner. The deputy pulled over the car and identified the driver as Julio C. Ferreira, of 29 Wilks Road in Danbury, Connecticut.

When the deputy ran a computer check on Ferreira’s license, it was revealed that his privileges to drive in New York had reportedly been suspended in 2015 for failing to answer a summons. The deputy arrested Ferreira and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor. The 39-year-old was also ticketed for crossing the double-yellow line.

He was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and released after posting $250.00 desk bail pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court. If found guilty of the driving while suspended charge, he could face up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.
