Folks are slated to honor the memory of Alan Schneider—a Putnam resident who ran for the position of county executive in 2011—Friday.
Schneider, 63, died "peacefully in his sleep" Tuesday, according to this online obituary from the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac (692 US Route 6). Some folks chose to leave remembrance messages on the site.
"His desire to help others less fortunate showed in all the ways he gave to so many," the piece reads. Schneider was a retired criminal investigator with the Westchester County Sheriff's Department.
