Cache Of Ghost Guns Seized During I-84 Traffic Stop: NYSP

A Pennsylvania man was found with a semi-automatic rifle, semi-automatic pistol, AK-style pistol, and high-capacity magazines, NYSP said.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A traffic stop led to a cache of illegal ghost guns, according to police.

The New York State Police say that on Thursday, around 9 p.m., members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a Toyota traveling east on I-84, in the town of Southeast.

Troopers identified the driver as 30-year-old Cotman A. Rosario Suarez, of West Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

After Rosario Suarez consented to a search of the vehicle, troopers say they found an American Tactical semi-automatic rifle, a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Pioneer Arms Classic Pro AK-style pistol, and several high-capacity magazines.

Rosario Suarez was arrested and charged with five felony counts of manufacture, transport, disposition, and defacement of weapons and dangerous instruments; felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (assault weapon); felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (three or more firearms); four felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; and three felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm.

Rosario Suarez was arraigned on Friday in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.
